I HAVE MEDICARE

Medicare is a national social insurance program that provides health insurance coverage to individuals who are 65 years of age or older, as well as to younger people with certain disabilities and individuals with end-stage renal disease.To qualify for Medicare, an individual must meet one of the following criteria:

​

  1. Be 65 years of age or older and either a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years.

  2. Have a disability that qualifies for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits.

  3. Have end-stage renal disease (ESRD) which requires regular dialysis or a kidney transplant

HOSPITAL INSURANCE (PART A)

Medicare part A helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and home health care.

MEDICAL INSURANCE (PART B)

Medicare part B helps cover

  • Services from doctors and other health care providers

  • Outpatient care

  • Home health care

  • Durable medical equipment (like wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other equipment)

  • Many preventive services (like screenings, shots or vaccines, and yearly “Wellness” visits)

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE (PART C)

Medicare Part C plans, also known as a Medicare Advantage plan, is a type of health plan offered by private insurance companies that provide all the benefits of original Medicare (Part A and B), as well as additional benefits such as prescription drug coverage (Part D), vision care, dental , and hearing care. Some Medicare Advantage plans may offer wellness programs, fitness benefits, and other ser ices that can help individuals stay healthy and active.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE (PART D)

Medicare part D helps cover the cost of prescription drugs (including many recommended shots or vaccines). You join a Medicare drug plan in addition to Original Medicare, or you get it by joining a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage. Plans that offer Medicare drug coverage are run by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare.
